Updating is a must. Character updates are important to give insight to what is going on in a character's life. Most characters in the Altamont World are busy and have a lot going on in their lives. We don't ask that you divulge all of your character's personal business, but we do ask for at least ONE update a month. And we ask for substantial updates: pictures, one liners, random facts WILL NOT COUNT.
You can do it in whatever format you would like; third person, as a blog entry, etc., to have it count toward your activity, however, this must be a substantial entry, at least two decent paragraphs or more. One-liners, lyrics, videos and things of that nature will not be counted as a "substantial entry"!
The single exception is birthday posts, which will count toward activity so long as they are not back to back entries.
"If you want to be interesting. Be interested."
Paying attention and acknowledging other characters’ plots, storylines, updates, and goings-on will not only help your character make storylines, it will also help in creating quite a bond and great story line for your own character. This means actually reading posts and stepping out of a self-involved mind frame, and commenting about what that character’s post and life is about. And then going beyond that and remembering to apply that to your RP moments. It’s impossible to remember every little thing, but if you really want that story line, going out of your way and having your character know the general gist of that character’s life is always a good place to start.
Hiatuses are allowed for up to 3 weeks. A hiatus lasting for more than 3 weeks (as well as constant hiatuses) could result in your dismissal from the game. However, this will be dealt with case-by-case (constantly being busy with school is a lot different than not having access to a computer for a certain length of time). If a player needs additional time, some exceptions may be made.
Removals happen depending on your time here, removal warning can go anywhere from 24hrs to 3 days. After the removal, you may reapply, and we will consider your re-entrance. If we have to comment your journal 3 times with a removal warning, you will automatically be removed from the game.
Threading is an important part of Altamont West Community. It is the easiest and most successful way to achieve character storylines, development, and interactions within the community. While threading is NO LONGER mandated, we encourage residents to post threads for roleplaying purposes.
The A.W. mod staff will try to put up ONE thread a month that will aim to cater to the majority of, if not all, players. While activity is not mandated, this will be a method for the mod staff to keep tabs on activity and participation.
As usual, we will GLADLY accept any suggestions for threads. If you ever feel like you have a suggestion for an event that could be used, please send a pm to the mod staff and let us know. We will definitely take it into consideration.
Thread headings should be formatted as follows:
Characters: [Who is involved this scene.] Setting: [Where and when (morning, evening, etc.,) the scene is occurring.] Content: [For simplicity's sake, you can just use 'No Adult Content'/Worksafe or 'Adult Content'/Not Work Safe. Adult Content is, of course, graphic sex or violence. State which (graphic sex or violence) applies to a post labeled with Adult Content.] Summary: [A short summary of the scene. Maybe what it's trying to achieve, what spawned it into being, and etc.]
THREAD FORMAT - (For your convenience, you can copy/paste this into your post)
